Patrick Farrell (USA/D; accordion, piano, composition)
Patrick Farrell is an accordionist, composer and bandleader from the USA living in Berlin. His ongoing projects include newly composed Yiddish song duets with singer Sveta Kundish, with whom he released in 2022 "Nem mayn vort," an album of original songs set to the Yiddish poetry of Rivka Basman Ben-Hayim, Celia Dropkin, and Avrom Reyzen.
Past projects include the celebrated avant/traditionalist klezmer ensemble Yiddish Art Trio, unique and unusual duets with New York trumpeter Ben Holmes, chamber-folk ensemble Ljova and the Kontraband, and the acclaimed and much-loved Stagger Back Brass Band.
Patrick has recorded for dozens of recordings from many different musical genres, including with Yo-Yo Ma and the Silk Road Ensemble, Adrienne Cooper, and Never Enough Hope, and has appeared on stage with most of the leading lights of the Yiddish and klezmer musical world. He is a co-organizer of Berlin's annual Shtetl Berlin festival and its accompanying non-profit association as well as the semi-regular Neukölln Klezmer Sessions.
